I just returned from North Carolina, where I taught a watercolor workshop at the J. C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. I met Weavers, Potters, Woodturners, Blacksmiths, Wood Carvers, Shoe Makers, Muscians, Book Binders, and more. Most Students and Instructors stayed on Campus where meals were served family style. I sat at a different table everyday and met so many really nice people. It's a big campus but everything is within easy walking distance or your could choose to drive. A few students and Instructors stayed in local RV Parks. Brasstown is in the Apalachian Mountains so there are plenty of parks.
I had six really wonderful student in my Watercolor Class. I will definetly be going back. Many of the people who come to the School bring their wives or husbands and they either take another class or just sight see while their spouse is in class. It a great place for couples to take a vacation.
After I got home, I went to the Pearce Homestead near Okeechobee for a Plein Air Painting Event and I lost my Olumpus Camera. It had all my North Carolina photos on it. Everyone there was really nice and they are looking for it. I'm still hopful it will be found and I can post some photos.
